Melbourne Architours are:
- Mark Skiba – landscape architect
- Andy Fergus – urban designer
- Esther Sugihto – architect
We are a group of local Melburnians who work, live and breathe architecture and design in this city. Keen to share the knowledge and generate discussion about the built environment, we invite you on a walking tour with us to learn about Melbourne’s evolution through its building fabric. Come and join us for one of three tours, followed by a caffeine pitstop or beer at the bar to dissect the good and the bad about the city and its architecture.

Brilliant! Esther, Mark and Andy brought Melbourne to life in an intelligent, thought-provoking tour. Because all three are currently working in Melbourne, listening and debating with them the merits of various buildings (in a remarkably jargon-free way) gave us a richer perspective on Melbourne’s architecture than through the “traditional” historical walking-tour alternatives that were on offer. I would highly recommend this tour to visitors and long-term Melburnians alike.

I thought the entire tour was great and thoroughly informative…it was refreshing! The critique on the general infrastructure and architecture about the city was excellent and the conversational approach with the tour was enjoyable. Your group were very articulate in addressing all the various historical, contextual and aesthetic elements with every place. Again, kudos.

Thank you for your lovely tour yesterday
I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it, every moment of it…I now look at buildings in a different light – honestly!
- Joseph Boey, architectural photographer, Boey Photography, attendee on Tour 4: Melbourne Evolutionism tour, 14.04.12
I felt that the tour has made me realise the significance of some buildings that I have overlooked on a day to day basis. It was exciting to discover hidden architectural gems hidden and tucked in Melbourne laneways. It was also interesting to discover the importance of some older buildings that provide a clear glimpse of past Melbourne architectural styles. At the end of the tour, it was great to see changes occur through time but it was fascinating to see some attributes of past architectural styles live in today’s architecture in various forms. I will definitely come back for future tours to learn more about Melbourne’s history and how it shaped the architecture today.
